The UK Intensive Interaction Conference 2016

Intensive Interaction: Intensive Interaction in Action

Date: Thursday 2nd June 2016
Location: Village Hotel, Glasgow

The 12th annual UK Intensive Interaction Conference 2016 ‘Intensive Interaction in Action’ will be on Thursday 2nd June 2016. We will be in Glasgow at the Village Hotel, 7 Festival Gate, Pacific Quay, G51 1DB.

This year the Intensive Interaction Conference is moving to Scotland. At the conference delegates will be shown a number of real life examples of using ‘Intensive Interaction in Action’, with the approach being effectively used across a variety of different working and care contexts. Across all the presentations and facilitated workshops delegates will be shown the main rationale and practices of Intensive Interaction, how the approach works ‘in action’, and what common outcomes Intensive Interaction can be expected to achieve.

Co-chaired by local Scottish SLTs Nicola Wightman, Fiona Tanner & Helen Beltran, the 2016 conference will host presentations by:

Dr Julie Calveley, RNLD, PhD - Associate of the Intensive Interaction Institute, on ‘Intensive Interaction in Action’: an overview of the Intensive Interaction journey so far...

Kelly MacArthur, Teacher, St Giles School, Derby, on ‘Intensive Interaction in Action’ with a child with autism.

Jules McKim, Intensive Interaction Coordinator, Southern Health, on ‘Intensive Interaction in Action’ with an adult with severe learning disabilities.

Dr Maggie Ellis, Fellow in Dementia Care, University of St Andrews, on ‘Intensive Interaction in Action’ with people with dementia.

Dr Dave Hewett, Consultant, trainer and Intensive Interaction originator, on ‘Looking to the future of Intensive Interaction’.

There are also 3 facilitated afternoon workshops designed to provide new knowledge and insights into the use of Intensive Interaction for anyone who attends. All delegates are welcome, whether they are new to Intensive Interaction and wish to find out more about it, or whether they are experienced practitioners or managers who wish to further develop their practices and services to provide even better quality Intensive Interaction (and anyone and everyone anywhere in-between!). The conference fee is 150, with all learning materials, lunch and refreshments included. The Group Booking rate is 5 places for 500 (a saving of 250!).
